I am jealous of David Eggars =)

David Eggers' idea is really perfect. He decided to make a learning center for kids. I agree with him, it is really hard to keep students silent and deal with them one by one, 1 hour in each week. The students say that it is really difficult to focus their homeworks in their house because there are tvs and video games. However, they can easily focus their homeworks in tutoring center. This is a way to directly engage with a public school in your area. I developed an idea like that. A tutoring center like a cafe but it looks like also a school. This will be English language cafe, there will be many rooms and each room consist one skill; writing, listening, reading, speaking. In each room, there will be teacher and also volunteers to teach something to students, smartboards, computers and camera. Students will able to come whenever they want and they will study whatever skills they want, also they do their homework with volunteer people, they will help them. For example, in speaking class, they can use the smartboard or computers to speak people from all over the world, they can connect with them, they can skype with them. And, their parents can watch them thanks to cameras and they can also improve themselves while watching their children, in my country, Turkey, most parents don't know english, so that they can not help with their children, this cafe will help their children and also them. Moreover, these videos will be on internet and they can reach them whenever they want. This cafe  includes daily newspapers, lots of books, comfortable armchairs, foods, and  colorful staff. Kids will really want to go there and they will improve themselves by talking with people and by studying with them individually. I hope one day I have a cafe like that ;)

I learned many things about copyright in the computer lesson. These are interesting for me because I didn't know before. Actually, I was surprised that we can only use 10% or 30 seconds of a song and 10% from a text and only 5 images from a single author. I think almost all teachers don't aware of these rules and they don't obey them. I don't know what about in my country, Turkey. I searched on the internet but I didn't find exact information but in my high school all my teachers were using any kind of pictures, texts or songs. I think if we don't get any profit from them, we can use. Unfortunately, there are rules and we should obey them ;)

I reviewed the 21st Century Schools. The benefits of 21st Century Schools are endless. Using of the technology in the classroom gives comfortability and independency. According to the this video, 3 years go only 9% of students were performing at grade level math. Today,62% of students are performing at grade level in math.Thanks to principal Jason Lewy, he  decided to use technology in the classroom, he came up with a plan to use google applications and laptops to turn the school around. After that, all students have their laptops and they do their homeworks online. Technology is beneficial for children. They feel independent and teachers can control them easily. They can read the passages, the teacher gives to them special tests. This is amazing we can see the beneficials of the technology; computers, smartboards,...etc. However, there is one disadvantage of using computers, while they are listening their teacher, they are playing games, chatting...etc. To solve this problem, Assistant Principal Dan Ackerman starts to remotely monitor the students's laptops for inappropriate use.

I hope to learn from this class, how to use the technologies, there are different kinds of technologies in the worl. If I learn using them, it helps me to improve myself and use them comfortably. And, I can use these beneficial technologies in my future classroom ;)
